Refrigeration

Flowers are said to thrive in cooler temperatures. It is thought that the low temps help slow the aging. Looks like floral bouquets like to stay nice and cool. This is the most popularly used among florists, they keep their cut flowers in refrigeration over night regularly.

Soda

Pour 1/4th of the cup into water in a vase full of flowers. Yes Flower enjoys some sweetness :). Sugar in soda is said to keep your blossom longer than ever. Use clear soda like sprite and 7up, since colored soda will make the water cloudy.

Bleach

Bleach cleans bacteria from water. Adding 1/2 spoon of bleach in 1 liter of water is enough. This will also keep the water from getting cloudy.

Sugar

Sugar nourishes the plant. One of the popular preservatives contain 3 spoon of sugar and 2 spoon of vinegar, sugar nourishes the bloom and Vinegar inhabitants the bacteria.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Add 2 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar into ½ liter of water. The idea is Sugar acts as additional flower food and vinegar to acidify the water. Be sure to change the water after a few days with ofcourse more Apple Cider Vinegar.

Vodka

It’s official! Flowers too do enjoy some drink. Add a few drops of Vodka to your vase water and let the flower bloom. The idea behind this is to reduce ethylene production via alcohol. Ethylene is a ripening gas that makes plants mature.

Coins

Your bouquet will last longer if you add a copper coin and a cube of sugar to the vase water. The copper in coins is thought to act like an acidifier, which prevents the growth of bacteria.

Aspirin

Aspirin is not just a solution to your head ache but also a solution to keep your flower head blooming. The Aspirin lowers the Ph level in the water, this helps water to travel in the stem faster to keep your flower fresher for longer.

Hairspray

Just as it preserves your hairstyle, a squirt of hairspray can help your flowers look fresh for longer. Stand a foot away from the bouquet and give them a quick spray, just on the undersides of the leaves and petals. This is a last resort to use, we do not recommend using chemicals over the flower.
